Nelson Mandela's One Year Remembrance

One year after Nelson Mandela's death , series of events have been organised in his honor.

In South Africa, events were led by Deputy President, Cyril Ramaphosa, while President Jacob Zuma was away in China for a state visit.


An inter-faith prayer session was held at the Freedom Park, a memorial for the country’s war and struggle veterans in Pretoria.

the Deputy President led the ringing of bells and 3 minutes of silence in Madiba’s honor.

At the union buildings, a wreath laying ceremony was held with his family and friends playing glowing tribute to the statesman.

His widow, Graca Machel, thanked the world for their support, adding that she hoped that his legacy would live on.
