Kogi State To Investigate Fraud InPension Fund Management

Heads may roll at Kogi State pensions board, as the state government has unveiled plan to set up an investigative panel to uncover those behind the fraud
in the management of fund at the stat’s Bureau of pension.

The State Accountant General, Mallam Ibrahim Aneku Idakwo gave the hint of the impending probe yesterday, in Lokoja, while addressing news men in his office. He said a new software platform has
uncovered series of fraudulent dealings running into millions of Naira in recent times.
The Accountant General was reacting to the public outcry by the state branch of Nigeria Union Pensioners, (NUP), which alleged that the consulting firm hired by the state government to establish e-payment platform for the monthly payment of pension had omitted names of about 225 retirees from the voucher.
The union also alleged that varying amount was deducted from those that where paid.
He said in the month of April, the union gave his office an estimated figure of N428M to be remitted to them as their entitlement.
